    Rabbi Richman,
Thank you again for sharing these beautiful and sublime concepts on the Light of Creation with us, helping us to bring rectification and SHALOM to our personal “Shechems”, as we strive to resolve the reality of G-d in our minds and to unify His presence in our hearts, as the Shema commands us…
“Shechem was the city in which everything came undone for Ya’akov and his family. It was there that his daughter Dinah had been violated, prompting Shimon and Levi to wipe out the males of the town in revenge (… ) It was in Shechem that the brothers sold Yosef into slavery, which caused Ya’akov to mourn for 22 straight years, and not just for Yosef, but for EVERYTHING that he had struggled to achieve since his youth (…) Hence, any rectification necessary for the family of Ya’akov to achieve its potential meant overcoming the negative force of Shechem and all that it represented, In Chanukah-terms, this meant freeing the Light of 36 that Shechem seemed to obstruct (… ) Perhaps this was the insight that Ya’akov had offered his sons when he was saying the words:
Baruch Shem Kavod Malchuto L’olam Va’ed - the first letters are: bait-shin-chof-mem- lamed-vav, and they spell:
    In Shechem, THIRTY-SIX!”
(From: “The Light of Thirty-Six” - by Rabbi Pinchas Winston)

    With gratitude and respect,
    Chava Devorah
