The significance of the Shema, “Hear O Israel, HaShem is our G-d, HaShem is One,” is therefore to bear witness to HaShem’s unity in all its aspects, as well as to accept the yoke of His Kingdom and His Authority over all creation, and to resolve to give one’s life for the sanctification of His Name.
