A New Soul, Part I

Bat Melech, with Rena Richman.
Bat Melech teachings appear every second Wednesday. The next Bat Melech teaching will appear on August 27, 2008, (Av 26, 5768).

We all love to welcome new born babies into the world. Where do these babies come from? What is the source of their spiritual essence? And what happens along that nine month journey from womb to the light of day that determines the nature of their soul as they emerge into this world? Rena explores the answers to these questions in part I of a two part teaching.

Weekly Torah Portion: Ve’etchanan

Light to the Nations – with Rabbi Chaim Richman
Weekly series of short messages concerning the weekly Torah Portion.

“Hear O Israel - the L-rd our G-d, the L-rd is one.” (Deuteronomy 6:4) This is the central article of Jewish faith and commitment. But how does one conduct oneself in such a way as to exemplify the totality of G-d’s oneness? We learn what declaring G-d’s unity is all about from Rabbi Akiva.

Weekly Torah Portion: Devarim

Light to the Nations – with Rabbi Chaim Richman
Weekly series of short messages concerning the weekly Torah Portion.

The holy Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev teaches that on the Sabbath before the 9th of Av, (the day of fasting which commemorates the Holy Temple which was destroyed in the year 70 AD by the Romans), the Sabbath known as Shabbat Chazon, the Sabbath of Vision, each and every Jew gains access to his own unique vision of the Holy Temple rebuilt! In this way, G-d inculcates us with heightened Temple consciousness, preparing us spiritually, intellectually and materially for the task of rebuilding the Holy Temple.
