He who trusts in G-d has peace of mind and tranquility of soul.
He who trusts in HaShem is not hindered in his trust by wealth, for he does not rely on his money. Rather, he regards it as a deposit which he has been commanded to use in certain ways and certain purposes, for a limited amount of time. If it stays at length in his possession, he does not, on its account, become arrogant. He does not remind the recipients of his charity of the kindness he rendered to them, for he was only performing his duty. He does not wish to be thanked and praised for his kindness, but thanks the Creator, may He be exalted, for having made him an agent of kindness. If he loses his money, he will not grieve or mourn of its absence. Rather, he thanks HaShem when the deposit is collected, just as he thanked Him when it was first given to him. He rejoices in his portion, does not seek to injury anyone, and does not covert anyone’s property, as the Wise Man said: “A righteous man eats only until he is satisfied” (Mishlei 13:25).

Above all things by a servant of G-d, that is: trust in G-d; for it is of great benefit in both religious and secular affairs.
Among its benefits to him in religious life is tranquillity of soul in reliance of G-d, may He be exalted, as the servant is bound to relay on his master. For if a person does not put his trust in g-d; and whoever trusts in what is other than G-d, G-d removes His providence from him and leaves him in the hands of whatever he trusted in. he becomes like those of hands of whatever he trusted in. he becomes like those of whom it is said: “Two evils have My people committed: they have forsaken Me, a freshwater spring to hew themselves cisterns, cracked cisterns” (Yirmiyahu 2:13); “They exchanged their Glory for the image of a bull that eats grass” (Tehillim 106:20).

Serving HaShem with all of one’s qualities:
(Soul) I have understood what you have said and paid attention to all that you have mentioned. Now I plead with your honor to explain to me on what occasions I should make use of my commendable and contemptible qualities, so that my use of them on these occasions will win me praise and commendation for their proper employment.
(Mind) You possess many different qualities; I will speak briefly of those that occur to me. Two of your qualities are joy and grief, which are opposites. This is the way joy should be employed: When you secure enduring delight, in which there can be no sorrow and which is not subject to any mishap, you may release this quality. The way to use grief (is as follows): When something happens to you which is troubling and enduring, and which you can neither remove nor escape, you may release grief and make use of it.

The Creator has permitted you to use all of His advice for your physical well-being and for all the He has entrusted to you to do in this world in known ways and specific matters, namely, all the mitzvoth — those called for by the intellect, and those that are permitted.
He said to you, “Do not be fooled by all the things I have put into your hands and empowered you to make use of in this world. For they will add nothing to you essential being, nor will they distract from it; they will bring you neither delight nor suffering. They are only things that incidentally affect your body, external or internally. They are not essentials for you; their relation to you is like that of the placenta to the baby or the eggshell to the chick.

The assistants and attendants are the soul’s moods and qualities, such as happiness and anxiety, joy and sorrow, remembering and forgetting, wisdom and ignorance, courage and timidity, generosity and tightfistedness, righteousness and wickedness, shame and brazenness, hope and fear, love and hate, delight and suffering, pride and humility, prominence and lowliness, and many other similar traits, which you practice in your inner life.
The Creator, may He be exalted, commanded the gatekeepers, rulers, officers, servants, advisors, assistants, and attendants to listen to you and carry out your command until a certain time, except in extraordinary matters which He made clear to them when they were brought into association with you. These matters are the meaning of Divine compulsion and the place of predetermination.

I have found in the Scriptures on the subject of compulsion and predetermination, control and will, that all [these] are G-d’s in respect to all that He has created, whether mineral or vegetable, animal or rational, as it is written:
Whatever G-d willed, He did — in heaven and on earth (Tehillim 135:6); G-d puts to death and brings life; He casts down into the graves and raises up. G-d makes poor and makes rich; He brings low, He also exalts (Shmuel 1, 2:6-7); Who has spoken and it come to pass, unless G-d has commanded it? Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that good and evil come? (Eichah 3:37-38); I form light and create darkness, I make peace, and create evil (Yeshiyahu 45:7); Unless G-d builds the house, its builders toll in vain on it. Unless G-d watches over the city, the watchman stays on alert in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and stay up late, you who eat bread of anxious toil; for He grants sleep to His beloved (Tehillim 127:1-2).
