Biblical Faith – with Sam Peak
Weekly series with new shows available every Tuesday.
Yeshayahu (Isaiah 24:17–20,23) states: “Terror, gorges, and traps will come upon you, the residents of the earth. Whoever flees from the sound of terror will fall into the gorge, and whoever gets out of the gorge will be caught in the trap, because the skylights of heaven were opened to bring down this fate, and the foundations of the earth will quake. The earth is broken; the earth crumbles; the earth is dismantled. The earth will move like a drunkard and shake like a hut…And the moon will be shamed and the sun embarrassed, for HaShem reigns in Mt. Zion.
Let’s compare this language to a comment of Walter Sullivan: Drilling into the Atlantic…has begun to paint a picture of the awesome events that accomplished the birth of that ocean. The cleavage of continents…was not a peaceful process…It seems to have been Wagnerian in its eruptions and upheavals–a series of events suited to the mind and romantic pen of Immanuel Velikovsky. As the Atlantic was born, (volcanic) activity must have been on a formidable scale, with new volcanoes thrusting the sea, darkening the skies, and exploding under cataclysmic steam pressure when rupture of thei walls allowed the sea to pour in.

Holidays mark dates when rectifications came about in history; on their anniversary, the same Lights shine forth again. The Highest Wisdom decreed that on every anniversary of this period, a counterpart of its original Light should shine forth, and the results of its rectification renewed to those who accept it.
We are therefore commanded to observe Pesach with all its rituals to recall the Exodus, on the anniversary of this event, there shines forth a Light that parallels the one that illuminated at the time. Since the results of that rectification are renewed in people that study the Torah, we are obligated to keep all the rituals for this event.
Shavuot (seven weeks) likewise involves a great rectification, since it is the time when the Torah was given. Sukkot involves the Clouds of Glory, as it is written (Vayikra 23:24) “That future generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in sukkot…”. Chanukah and Purim also involve this same conept.

HaShem informed Noach that the new basis on which the world is to function after the mabbul, with an inclination of the axis and, consequently, subject to changing seasons, will continue “all the days of the earth.” That means all the days of the present world, until HaShem will have repaired the damages caused by the mabbul.
That new world is referred to by Yeshayahu (Isaiah 66:12): “‘Just as the new heavens and the new earth which I am making will endure before Me,’ says HaShem, ‘so will your children and your name endure.'” “The new heavens and the new earth” refer to the new cosmic organizations, identical to that before the mabbul, when the sun apparently revolved directly around the equator. At that time there will be general improvement in the constitution of the world, in mineral elements, plants, and living creatures, and in their longevity.

The holy Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev teaches that on the Sabbath before the 9th of Av, (the day of fasting which commemorates the Holy Temple which was destroyed in the year 70 AD by the Romans), the Sabbath known as Shabbat Chazon, the Sabbath of Vision, each and every Jew gains access to his own unique vision of the Holy Temple rebuilt! In this way, G-d inculcates us with heightened Temple consciousness, preparing us spiritually, intellectually and materially for the task of rebuilding the Holy Temple.
