On this day, forty days before the creation of man, G-d determined man’s destiny in this world. Knowing our purpose, as individuals, as a nation, and as humankind, is a reason for sublime joy and happiness.

Moshe prepares the people for entering the land of Israel. They will need to take up arms in order to conquer the land, and they will need to take up their plowshares in order to settle and cultivate the land. But ultimately, in order to set down roots both deep and unassailable, they will need to perform the commandments that G-d commanded them. The same is every bit as true today. It is Torah that weds us to the land of Israel.
Eikev (Deuteronomy 7:12-11:25)

Palm of Deborah
“You have turned my lament into dancing for me; You loosened my sackcloth and girded me with joy.” (Psalms 30:12) Tu b’Av, the 15th day of the month of Av, is the day, in primordial pre-time, in which man was “married” to his purpose: to serve G-d in gladness. Torah teaches us that life is meant for happiness, the happiness of fulfilling the word of Torah and the nearness of G-d’s presence, and that we are to be full of the joy that the knowledge of G-d bequeaths us.

Chapter 3 19b
The Enigma of Good, Evil and Free Choice.
Free choice is uniquely human. The paradox of free choice is that HaShem Who is the ultimate of goodness, created a situation that allows evil.
HaShem created the world to serve mankind, whom He endowed with free choice. If HaShem intervened to prevent evil, He would undermine two basic principles of creation.
