This week features:
Yosef in Egypt, Israel Today: The Amazing Jewish Art of Dreaming
Rekindling the Light of Chanukah
From Exile to Redemption: Announcing Rabbi Richman’s USA Speaking Tour, January 2011
The Everly Brothers sure had it right. We just can’t get our minds off of Yosef the dreamer and the role he played in saving his own family and the entire nation of Egypt from famine. It seems that ever since Yosef, Jews are great at dreaming… Keeping their own dreams alive, and fueling the dreams that keep the whole world alive as well. The nations of the world are all for Jewish dream-power, but once we’ve made their dreams come true, they’d prefer it if we would just disappear…
Chanukah is here, time to bring the Hidden Light back into the world. Speaking of which, the light of this world is the Divine Presence which rests in the Holy Temple. Rabbi Chaim Richman is preparing for a month-long, coast-to-coast speaking tour of the USA this coming January, which will include an unprecedented update pertaining to the plans for the rebuilding of the Holy Temple that he will be bringing. Yitzchak and Rabbi Richman discuss the plans for this upcoming American tour, name the cities and dates (including stops in several states he will be visiting for the first time), and discuss the theme of “From Exile to Redemption.”

Mishnah 11b
Rabbi Yonasan says: Whoever fulfills the study of Torah despite poverty will ultimately fulfill it in wealth; . . .
This statement is just one of many factors that determine whether or not one will be wealthy. There have been many people, such as Rabbi Chanina ben Dosa, who dedicated themselves to Torah study out of abject poverty, and who never became wealthy. Sometimes, wealth is more of a curse than a blessing, and sometimes poverty may be more of a blessing than a curse.
How strong is the bond between a parent and a child? A father and a son? Ya’akov could not be comforted by Yosef’s loss. Just what did Ya’akov know concerning Yosef’s apparent demise? Why was there a “conspiracy of silence” surrounding Yosef’s disappearance?

Chanuka Special
The rain that falls in the land of Israel represents and reflects our spiritual and physical well-being. G-d does right by Israel if Israel does right by G-d. If the rain is not falling, it is time for repentance and prayer.
Dedication: Sacred to the memory of Yitzchak ben Hillel.

Next Bat Melech: December 8, 2010 / Tevet 1, 5771
The suffering and adversity that are a part of life and that are so difficult to comprehend, are nevertheless an expression of G-d’s love for us. If we can accept our suffering as a challenge, we can grow stronger and closer to G-d.
Dedication: Dedicated to Yael Ellis. Happy Birthday!

Mishnah 10 and 11a
Rabbi Yishmael his son says: Do not act as judge alone, for none judges alone except One – HaShem; and do not say, “Accept my view,” for they are permitted to, but not you.
The Torah demands a fully impartial system of justice; judges and witness must be separate from the litigants.
The mishnah uncharacteristically refers to HaShem as “One,” to draw our attention to the point of judicial detachment. He can judge alone and still maintain the demands of judicial process, because in His Oneness He is certainly distinct and separate from people.
Rabbi Yonasan says: Whoever fulfills the study of Torah despite poverty will ultimately fulfill it in wealth; but whoever neglects the study of Torah because of wealth will ultimately neglect it in poverty.

In Whose Hands the Land’s Fate?
American Pressures and Promises: Selling Joseph Again?
Palestinian Revisionist Denial Syndrome — and Jewish
Indifference
Temple Talk explores the significance of the conflict between the righteous Joseph and his holy brothers… a conflict that still effects us to this very day. Will we ever fix the sin of the sale of Joseph? Can we rise to the challenge and just say no? NO! I mean, YES! It’s time for the people of Israel to stop selling themselves short, and to stand up to the task that G-d appointed us for, no matter what is being used to bribe, threaten, cajole, intimate, or browbeat our people into giving up our Land and our legacy.
A bill calling for a referendum before parts of the Land of Israel are given away, is passed by the Knesset. Is that good? What does it mean?
The Palestinian denial machine has determined, in the name of science, that the Western Wall is not Jewish. Everybody’s upset, but they should have been upset long before this…
