9th of Av on the Temple Mount
On the Morning of Tish’a b’Av, 5771/August 9, 2011, Rabbi Chaim Richman & Yitzchak Reuven ascended the holy Temple Mount together with hundreds of fellow Jews, to make a clear statement on this spiritually powerful day, on which both Holy Temples were destroyed. The entire morning was spent on the Mount. Following is a short teachng from the Mount.

The Three Altar Fires
Upon the great stone altar that stood outside the Holy Temple were three separate fires, each one serving a unique purpose as part of the daily Tamid  service, each one having been described in the book of Leviticus.

Cult of Tragedy
The month of Tammuz has been marked for the past two thousand years of Jewish history by weeping and mourning for the Holy Temple. Is our mourning constructive, ultimately empowering us to rise up from off the floor and rebuild the Holy Temple, as our sages originally intended it to be, or have we fallen into the tragedy trap of mourning for the sake of mourning? Rabbi Richman explores the ancient world’s celebration of the cult of weeping, and Torah’s age old battle against the victory of defeat.

Dedication: Dedicated in celebration of Benjamin and Kaitlin’s marriage. Mazal tov!

Tammuz
The Tammuz Special was originally broadcast on Rosh Chodesh Tammuz, 5768, (the beginning of the new month of Tammuz, one year ago – 2008). Rabbi Richman’s insights remain as valuable and relevant today as they were two years ago:

From the days of the spies, the month of Tammuz has been one of harsh judgement for Israel. But Tammuz is not fated to be so for ever. By speaking well of the land of Israel and increasing our appreciation and intensifying our love for the land – right now – in the month of Tammuz, we can begin to turn Tammuz from a bitter month to a sweet month.

Dedication: Dedicated to Darla Deckard.

the Daily OfferingThe Levitical orchestra didn’t simply provide pleasant background accompaniment for the Temple offerings. The music was an integral spiritual aspect of the service of the offerings, designed to awaken within the worshipper true feelings of repentance. Second in a series.
