Chapter 38 of the book of Genesis deals with the difficult history of Yehudah and Tamar. The unique qualities that Yehudah and Tamar exhibited as they each, in his and her own way, dealt with the consequences their own actions, were to become the defining characteristics of their descendant King David and the longed for messianic son of David.
