Biblical Faith – with Shmuel “Sam” Peak

Chapter 5
Mishnah 14 and 15
Whether one is a staunch character or a flaccid character, their actions will be consistent with their nature. A strong-natured individual will be difficult to anger and equally difficult to pacify. A weak individual will be easily angered and just as easily pacified. It is highly unusual for a person to be firm in one way, such as not getting angry, and soft in another way, such as being easily pacified.

Moshe  expresses two chief concerns as he speaks to Israel: Every one of the 613 commandments is important in G-d’s eye and should likewise be regarded by the people, and the true destination and proper location for the performance of each of the 613 commandments is in the land of Israel itself.

Moshe wanted nothing more than to cross the Jordan and see the holy land, “the good mountain, and the Levanon.” (Deut. 3:23) But G-d would not allow it. What at first seems like a harsh rebuke, is, on a much deeper level, a compassionate expression of G-d’s love for Moshe and for Israel.

The Three Altar Fires
Upon the great stone altar that stood outside the Holy Temple were three separate fires, each one serving a unique purpose as part of the daily Tamid  service, each one having been described in the book of Leviticus.

Chapter 5

Mishnah 12 and 13

He is average because he has a perfect right to keep his property to himself, according to Torah Law. He is not generous enough to be called, scrupulously pious, but neither is he covetous of other’s things.

Temple Talk is a weekly internet radio webcast with Rabbi Chaim Richman and Yitzchak Reuven of the Temple Institute.

This week features:

A Time to Weep, a Time to Build

The State of Israel, the Redemption, and the Holy Temple: Rise
and Shine, Jewish People!

High Priest's Golden BellOn Tisha B’Av, the day of mourning and national tragedy, Rabbi Richman and Yitzchak Reuven ascended the holy Temple Mount together with hundreds of Jews of all ages and backgrounds, searching for understanding on this spiritually-powerful day. We all know that the prophets of Israel assure us this day of sadness will be transformed into a day of rejoicing. But we wonder: How? When? Today, on top of Mount Moriah, in the very place that the Holy Temple was sacked and destroyed nearly 2,000 years ago, we discovered the answer: It is the Jewish people themselves who will make this prophecy come true. It is the nation of Israel who will decide that they have had their fill of mourning, and are ready to rebuild. Rabbi Richman and Yitzchak recorded this special edition of Temple Talk just after descending from the mountain, and they share their unforgettable experiences and impressions from this historic and unprecedented Tisha B’Av  visit to the most sacred site in the world.
