Every week when we study the weekly Torah portion we are really deciphering the news of the day, and these weeks of the book of Genesis which describe the lives of our holy forefathers Abraham and Isaac elucidate today’s news, as well as provide an understanding of Jewish purpose and destiny.
The future Holy Temple figures prominently in the story of the binding of Isaac, in more ways than one…and the conflict between Isaac and Ishmael, between Torah and Islam is being clarified and rectified in that very place… “as it is said, on the mountain Hashem will be seen” (Gen. 22:14).
