Mishnah 17
Rabbi Shimon says: There are three crowns–the crown of Torah, the crown of priesthood and the crown of kingship: but the crown of a good name surpasses them all.
Mishnah 16 extolled the importance of Talmud over the importance of Mishnah and Scripture. Mishnah 17 was placed after that statement because the “crown of Torah” refers primarily to the study of the Talmud, rather than the Scripture or Mishnah.
