Every man has an enemy within him, unless he has help from G-d, an ever-present, corrective guide for his soul, and self-mastery to bind it with the bridle of service, control it with the reins of virtue, and strike it with the rod of discipline; so that, when the performance of some good act occurs to him, he will not delay, and if his heart entices him to do otherwise, he will berate it and overcome it.
I seek the help of the One true G-d; in Him do I trust. I ask that, in His mercy, He show me the straight path which pleases Him and finds favor in His eyes, in word and deed, in the inward life and outward action.
