, in his farewell address to Israel which comprises the entirety of the book of Deuteronomy, opens with words of rebuke. Determined to instruct and not to hurt his beloved people, Moshe
“sweetens” his words of reproach with love and tenderness. As we approach the fateful 9th of Av
we are sorely in need of sweet reproof as the call for us to rise up and rebuild the Holy Temple is greater now than ever.
