The Miraculous Transformation of the Modest Month of Iyar
Sefirat HaOmer: Counting, Shining, Telling the Story of Our Own Lives
In an unprecedented episode of Temple Talk dedicated to the sanctity of time and the dynamics of Redemption, Yitzchak Reuven and Rabbi Richman deliver a passionate lesson about the Counting of the Omer, the month of Iyar and the State of Israel. This sprawling panorama of Jewish history spans from the building of the First Temple which King Solomon began during this very month, up to our very day… with the establishment of the State of Israel and the reunification of Jerusalem as the living proof of the healing power of the month of Iyar.

Passover to Shavuot via the Omer: The Long and Winding Road
Return the Temple Mount to the Jewish People!
The month of Redemption and the lessons of Passover continue to take center stage on Temple Talk, as an emotionally-charged Yitzchak Reuven recounts his very special Passover experience with a lamb in the house that challenged him to rethink everything. His sensitive story is a beautiful and measured taste of the Torah’s intentions in the bringing of offerings to the Holy Temple.
It’s that time of year again: sefirat ha-omer, the counting of the days and weeks leading up to the Giving of the Torah at Shavuout, days that present a unique spiritual opportunity. But before we delve into its mystery, let’s get the calendar straight!

A Tale for Our Time: President Obama and the Passover Sacrifice
Passover and the Mission of Israel: To Fearlessly Slaughter the False Gods
Passover, the glorious festival of freedom, is preceded by another holy day, a day of preparation and portent: the tenth day of Nisan. In this week’s special kosher for Passover edition of Temple Talk, Yitzchak Reuven and Rabbi Richman make the connection between what happened on the tenth of Nisan, and our modern-day observance of Passover. Even as all of Israel prepares for a glorious and fulfilling holiday, the timing of President Obama’s visit to Jerusalem (not to mention the purpose of his trip) carries deep spiritual significance – and challenges. Tune into this Passover primer as our hosts continue to campaign for the renewal of the Passover offering and the realignment of Israel’s hearts and minds with our true national identity. We wish all of our listeners a joyous and kosher Passover – this year, today, in Jerusalem!

Nisan & the Tabernacle: Let the Heavens and Earth Rejoice!
What Will it Take for Israel to Bring a Passover Offering this Year?
The Month of Nisan, time of our Redemption, has arrived. Rosh Chodesh Nisan, the day of the dedication of the Tabernacle, conveys a message of the perfection of creation, as man welcomes G-d into His world. As we begin the book of Vayikra this week, the theme of the Creator’s relationship with His world, and man’s involvement in refining that relationship and bringing creation to its potential, becomes the Torah’s main emphasis as we begin to learn all about the offerings in the Holy Temple. Add the upcoming festival of Passover to this mix, and the picture becomes even clearer. But there is still something very wrong with the picture: if it’s Passover, where is the offering? And what is the excuse for the nation of Israel not fulfilling this Divine imperative? Tune in to this week’s Temple Talk for an introduction to the book of Leviticus, and a whole lot of questions that need answering.

This week features:
The Tabernacle vs. Obama: Becoming Who We Are Meant to Be
The Grand-Slam Double Portions of Vayakhel-Pekudei: You’ve Got to Have Heart
The book of Exodus comes to a magnificent close this week, as we read the twin Torah portions of Vayakhel-Pekudei, which deals with the details and summary of the Tabernacle’s construction. But there is a lot more to this seemingly “repetitious” redaction than meets the eye. In this week’s dazzling edition of Temple Talk, Yitzchak Reuven and Rabbi Richman find new meaning for our generation in the completion of the Tabernacle and its dedication on Rosh Chodesh Nisan, which takes place next week. Our hosts find outstanding truths and challenges in the account of the desert tabernacle, and hold up these two Torah portions as a beacon to illuminate our nation’s way through the stagnant mire of our current global geopolitical “realities.”
The Temple Mount is in the news, as new MK Moshe Feiglin pushes the envelope of Israeli sovereignty to very door of the Dome of the Rock… only to have it “returned to sender.” Tune into a controversial and dynamic Temple Talk that examines contemporary “Jewish” values and comfort zones with no holds barred.

This week features:
From Purim to the Golden Calf: The Mentality of Having to Know
Do You Eat Legumes or Wet Matza on Passover? Without a Korban Pesach, Who Cares?
Purim is over, but its lessons remain with us. G-d hides Himself purposefully in this world, but that only makes His presence all the more blatant throughout the “random” episodes of our lives. But you can’t pin Him down… which is exactly why we are reading in this week’s parashat Ki Tisa of the Golden Calf mentality, the desire to limit G-d to something we can create ourselves.
One month to go until Passover, and this is a month of repentance and preparation. But what are we preparing for? Yitzchak Reuven and Rabbi Richman remind us that Passover is about the Passover offering, and without it, we are just pretending to be Jewish. Sounds extreme? You bet… extremely Torah. Isn’t about time to get real? Tune into this week’s Temple Talk for details… but check your excuses at the door.

This week features:
Purim: A Burst of Light from the World to Come
The Torah Portions of the Tabernacle: Exegesis Ad Nauseum
Purim is here, and we’ve got Purim joy! Or, as much as we could have, without the Holy Temple. Put your masks on… or, take them off! Whatever works for you, as Temple Talk’s Yitzchak Reuven and Rabbi Chaim Richman discuss the true nature of joy and explore the background of the Purim story of Divine intervention and miraculous intervention and its roots in the ultimate saga – the struggle for the rebuilding of the Holy Temple.
How happy can we be without the Holy Temple, anyway? Evidently, we can get used to anything. Maybe that explains why so many interpretations of the current Torah portions abound, that delve into symbolism and metaphor and ascribe all sorts of meanings to the tabernacle and its vessels, but utterly ignore the simple meaning of the words: G-d said to build it! Whatever happened to the plain ‘ol meaning of the words? Our hosts remind us exactly what happened: The Exile. It came in like a ghoul in the night, and messed up our minds. Tune in to Temple Talk and get straightened out!
