Temple Talk is a weekly internet radio webcast with Rabbi Chaim Richman and Yitzchak Reuven of the Temple Institute.
This week features:
Ki Tisa: Jewish Unity Vs. The Golden Calf and Other False Gods
Echoes of the Golden Calf: The World Lectures to Israel on Morality & Justice
In this week’s Torah portion of Ki Tisa, we read about the cataclysmic debacle of the Golden Calf: While still standing at the foot of Mount Sinai, Israel is hoodwinked by the nefarious Mixed Multitude, and under their influence, the nation blunders. This week’s powerful, unsettling edition of Temple Talk finds Yitzchak Reuven and Rabbi Richman discovering that the nation of Israel is still grappling with the ominous echoes, overtones and results of the Golden Calf even today. It’s not just a question of bowing down to a cow… it’s about disguising and misrepresenting our values. Today’s modern mixed multitude, princes of hypocrisy, continue to dictate Israel’s moral code, and sell her the Brooklyn Bridge… while selling her down the river. Warning: This show is politically incorrect!

Love and marriage: This is the story of the building of the Tabernacle in the desert. G-d so loved His people Israel that He could not bear to wait until they entered the land before they would build for Him a sanctuary. He ordered a temporary, portable sanctuary that would enable Him to dwell among Israel even during their forty year desert sojourn, so that they could begin at once their life together.

This week features:
Is the Holy Temple a Building of Stone, or a Castle in the Air?
The World to Israel: We’re Not Anti-Semitic, But Why Don’t You Just Die Already?
As the entire people of Israel read the weekly Torah portions that describe the desert Tabernacle, forerunner of the Holy Temple, and all the details of its appointments, Temple Talk takes umbrage at those who think that the more we study, and the nicer we behave, well…. suddenly the Holy Temple will materialize. Is it possible to divest a Torah commandment of its simple and plain meaning? What happened to our reasoning during the long exile? This week’s amazing edition of Temple Talk grapples with the true meaning of the Torah’s commandment to erect a house for G-d, and our hosts take a long, hard look at G-d’s plans for His people Israel, vs. the rules that the nations of the world try to foist upon Israel.

The Ghost Month of Adar I: Double Your Pleasure, Double Your Fun
Parashat Terumah and the Temple Institute: Bringing the Holy Temple Down to Earth
As the month of Shevat draws to a close, we prepare to welcome the month of Adar, that especially auspicious, ‘lucky’ month. But this year there are two Adars! Are we twice as lucky? This year features the ‘extra’ month of Adar I, an usual phenomena of time on the Hebrew leap year calendar that’s hard to pin down. In this week’s edition of Temple Talk, Yitzchak Reuven and Rabbi Richman re-define this month as a special, Divinely-appointed opportunity to pack in some ‘extra’ fixing and refinement. Since refinement and re-definition is on our national agenda, what better time to begin reading the Torah portions that deal with the establishment of the Tabernacle and its vessels, the precursor of the Holy Temple and its service. This week we read the portion of Terumah, and from this point on, the Tabernacle/Temple will be the central theme of our Torah readings. But just how seriously do we regard the Torah’s instructions to “Build for Me a Sanctuary, that I will Dwell Among You” (Ex. 25:8)? Our hosts refine and re-define, delving the depths of the meaning of this commandment in a special focus on the work of the Temple Institute in preparing for the resumption of the Divine service in our time.
