Temple Talk
Temple Talk is a weekly internet radio webcast with Rabbi Chaim Richman and Yitzchak Reuven of the Temple Institute.

This week features:

Translating the Torah, Worshiping the Golden Calf & Other Illusions:
It’s All Greek to Me

The Death of Ezra and Nehemiah & the Lack of True Jewish Leaders

The month of Tevet enters with the blessings of rain in the Land of Israel. But this month is traditionally considered to be a time of portent and distress, and features a public fast day, the 10th of Tevet, which commemorates a siege around Jerusalem that led to the destruction of the first Holy Temple. Is Jerusalem still besieged…or are its inhabitants just suffering from a siege mentality?

The 8th and 9th days of Tevet used to be fast days, as well: For the day that the Torah was translated into Greek, and for the passing of the great leaders Ezra and Nehemiah. The day a translation of the Torah was forced by King Ptolmely is considered to be especially bleak. In fact the translation of the Torah is called a calamity equal to the creation of the Golden Calf! Why should Torah in another language be considered a tragedy?

This week features:

I’ve Seen Fire & I’ve Seen Rain

The Month of Tevet & the Holy Temple: On Guard Against a Breach

Yosef and the Great Reconciliation: Seeing Everything as the Mercy of Hashem

What a week of extremes it’s been: The joy of Chanuka against the backdrop of the devastating fire in Israel that claimed so many lives and did such horrendous damage. And finally, a little rain… and as we learn from the story of Choni Ha’Ma’agel,  we never say “we’ve had enough rain!”  so we continue to pray that the Land of Israel begins to receive bountiful rainfall. As we read of Yosef’s reunion with his family in Egypt, the month of Tevet  begins…what are the lessons of this month, which begins during Chanukah but yet, features a fast day over the First Temple’s destruction just a week after the conclusion of Chanukah? Tune into Temple Talk….

This week features:

Yosef in Egypt, Israel Today: The Amazing Jewish Art of Dreaming

Rekindling the Light of Chanukah

From Exile to Redemption: Announcing Rabbi Richman’s USA Speaking Tour, January 2011

The Everly Brothers sure had it right. We just can’t get our minds off of Yosef the dreamer and the role he played in saving his own family and the entire nation of Egypt from famine. It seems that ever since Yosef, Jews are great at dreaming… Keeping their own dreams alive, and fueling the dreams that keep the whole world alive as well. The nations of the world are all for Jewish dream-power, but once we’ve made their dreams come true, they’d prefer it if we would just disappear…

Chanukah is here, time to bring the Hidden Light back into the world. Speaking of which, the light of this world is the Divine Presence which rests in the Holy Temple. Rabbi Chaim Richman is preparing for a month-long, coast-to-coast speaking tour of the USA this coming January, which will include an unprecedented update pertaining to the plans for the rebuilding of the Holy Temple that he will be bringing. Yitzchak and Rabbi Richman discuss the plans for this upcoming American tour, name the cities and dates (including stops in several states he will be visiting for the first time), and discuss the theme of “From Exile to Redemption.”

This week features:

In Whose Hands the Land’s Fate?

American Pressures and Promises: Selling Joseph Again?

Palestinian Revisionist Denial Syndrome — and Jewish
Indifference

Temple Talk explores the significance of the conflict between the righteous Joseph and his holy brothers… a conflict that still effects us to this very day. Will we ever fix the sin of the sale of Joseph? Can we rise to the challenge and just say no? NO! I mean, YES! It’s time for the people of Israel to stop selling themselves short, and to stand up to the task that G-d appointed us for, no matter what is being used to bribe, threaten, cajole, intimate, or browbeat our people into giving up our Land and our legacy.

A bill calling for a referendum before parts of the Land of Israel are given away, is passed by the Knesset. Is that good? What does it mean?

The Palestinian denial machine has determined, in the name of science, that the Western Wall is not Jewish. Everybody’s upset, but they should have been upset long before this…

This week features:

An Impromptu “Underground” Wedding on the Temple Mount

The Light of Queen Helena’s Lamp

Hebron, Shechem and the Temple Mount: Three Irrevocable Purchases in the Land of Israel

The mysterious balance of light and darkness during the month of Kislev, and the eternal struggle of Ya’akov and Esav, as exemplified by Ya’akov’s wrestling with an angel in this week’s Torah portion of Vayishlach, are major themes of our Temple Talk program this week, as the United States once again pressures Israel to freeze Jewish building in the Land of Israel. But despite Esavian machinations and maneuvers, the indefatigable Jewish spirit – and strength – is on the rise, as can be demonstrated by the weekly visits of Jews and Righteous Gentiles to the Temple Mount. Hear about a “clandestine” yet authentic Jewish wedding that took place on the Temple Mount this week in the defiant spirit of the Macabees, plus a new exciting project of the Temple Institute especially designed to bring the light of the Holy Temple back into the world!
